Beware of NATWEST they are now calling bank charges, Maintenance Chrages they charged me £28 for going £6 overdrawen by 1 day. I went to the cash point and it said i had £30 in so took it out. The day previous i spent about a £5 but because it was a card transaction NATWEST tell me that it hadn't taken this off, normally my account takes it straight off thats why i thought i could use it. I am very annoyed it feels as though someone has come out from behind me in the street and robbed me of £28. I do agree somewhat to bank charges but i think this is very excessive, i have banked with NAWEST for 17 years and have been very loyal to them and have never went overdrawen on this account or in the past 3-4 years on any of my accounts. I phoned them up and told them about the situation and the person on the phone did very little to help me, I AM VERY ANNOYED ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I also have 3 other accounts with them and could have transfered some money accross in a matter of seconds.
I am gonna go into the bank on Monday and if they cant do anything then i will send a letter of complaint off and close all my accounts.

You need to be aware of the transactions going through YOUR account. It is not upto the bank to babysit, the card transaction will not always go straight through your account and can take upto 6 months if the company you are paying does not claim the funds until that point.0

You should keep your own reconciliations of what you have in your account. Whether this be say in excel or in a book, it's up to you. If you do this you will know exactly how much money you have available even if some bank transactions haven't gone through your account yet.Kavanne
