Can anyone help me plz ???
I am renting a student house with 3 other people. we got are first bill the other day and it came in at £225 each for gas and electric for 4 months.
it appears on the bills that we have used 14125 units of gas. Which is huge amount i think
we have an aga which we are told heats the water, and we only have the heating on 3 hours a day. The heating is brand new centrel heating on a combi bolier.
Does this sound right ?????????
thank you:o

14125kwh of gas for four cold winter months averages 117kwh a day which is about what we are using in a three bedroomed mid terraced house.
Check that the readings are actual (A) and not estimated (E) and match your meter. Check that if your meter is imperial, you have used approx 455 meter units and if you have a metric meter, you used in the region of 1284 meter units.0 -
it was for 3 months, and measures in kwh0

sorry, as you can tell i am very confused. and i dont know sorry0 -
There will be some indication on the meter - go search with a torch!
When you know, make sure the meter units have been converted correctly. You can tell by looking at the number of units and the number of kwh. Very roughly,
Metric --> units x 11 = kwh
Imperial --> units x 31 = kwh0 -
£300 per month for five sitting rooms? That's only £60 per room. Bit expensive but not unbelievable.
But are you sure the starting reading was correct - you're not paying for the previous tenants' dregs?
Note: do you use the Aga's water for showers or do you use electric showers? If you use electric showers then you could be spending £70 per month in the shower.0
