Endsleigh Contents Insurance

Hi,

I have had a policy with Endsleigh for over 12months now. It 'auto-renewed' in December and I am now out of my 14 day cooling off period. I rang up to cancel today (as I am moving at the end of the month). I was told that there would be a £50 cancellation charge and 30 days notice needed. The policy only costs £82 for the year. I haven't given them permission to renew, other than not responding to a letter sent in December. I thought, maybe stupidly, it would just go onto a rolling contract at the end of the first 12 months.

Is there anything I can do to get out of this?

Did you arrange cover with a different company to take over from the exact date the endsleigh policy ran out?

No. To be quite honest I'd forgot I had contents insurance. It's only when I dug through a mountain of paper yesterday I found the letter they sent 30 days before my policy expired.

In that case Endsleigh will say you were covered under their policy, if you had needed to claim before they cancelled you would no doubt have rand Endsleigh to claim and they would have had to pay the claim if it was valid and before the date you "cancelled" the policy.

Do a search under "Cancellation" there is a useful thread that discusses cancellation charges, it may help you.
