Orange have for many years either blocked access to gateway numbers, or hike the cost to call them. It would appear that you've paid ONLY the part of the call to the gateway service, and they've charged you to deliver the call abroad.0

Any of the other gateway people, that orange dont charge for?0

On the info you gave I would guess you didn't use the calling service properly and you probably intiated another call via Orange when dialling abroad, i.e. when calling the overseas number after connecting to the calling service you pressed the call button again.0

Orange charge up to 54p a minute to call 0844 numbers and up to 34p a minute to call 0871 numbers.
Discount dial say on front page.
"Rates in pence per minute and based on calls from a regular BT land line. Mobile operators may surcharge on our access numbers, please consult your mobile provider."
If you have inclusive orange x-net minutes you could use http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php via their 020 access number.0 -
Neither DiscountDial or any other provider (except a few incompetent or lying Just-Dial affiliates) have made any claims that 0844 and 0871 rates are the same from mobiles as from landlines, or the same rate as other mobile calls.
Look for ordinary area code landline access, such as jhp's suggestion. Some others can be found in the MSE Callchecker. I'd also suggest some of the Betamax VoIP brands, which have callthrough as an option0 -
Thanks guys for the heads up....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had been using 18185 before, but didnt realise the catch about using certain access numbers and main providers adding an excess !!!!!!!!!!!
Motto is "READ THE SMALL PRINT" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
