Electron card trouble

yeah I used to frequently have this problem at self scan tils in Tesco!! A real PITA!!
And Ive never been able to use it at any self service filling station :mad:0 -
when i used to work in morrisons and peoples cards were declined i used to find it more embarrassing then the customer most of the time!!! lol. But there were lots of different reasons and i used to always try it twice, some people used to get so worked up over it like I'd done it on purpose, was funny to listen to their protests!![FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

At the SS tills in Sainbury's, it's very annoying because if you click to 'Finish & Pay' the till says - Have you swiped your Nectar card. If you then swipe your Nectar card, it takes you back a stage, so if you add your debit card, it declines it. You need to click Finish & Pay again.
At the normal tills, though, I have had the opposite problem. I use a Solo & a Maestro card - never any problems with the Maestro, but with the Solo, Sainsbury's often used to 'reserve' the funds twice, and only release them on the day that the actual funds cleared. When you are a bit short of funds, this was not appreciated. I complained to the bank & to Sainsbury's, but each blamed the other and neither would see it as a major issue because I always got the cash available in the end - but if it happened on a Friday, you wouldn't get the freed funds until Wednesday - not ideal when you are watching the pennies ![STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0 -
Wow
I really am not alone in this
Im glad but sad also
As an ex bankrupt I only have an electron card so have no choice
It has happened at checkouts as well though not just self scan"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -
I work for a local Sainsburys, had lots of problems with this yesterday, my manager said it was a problem with the 'dial up'?? connection, and so to apologise to customers and advise them they cant use the card in store but they can use the machine outside (which charges £1.75!!), most customers did not bother! and i wouldnt have either!0

Yeah I've had problems when working in Sainsburys in the last week. The Chip and PIN readers just decide to reboot themselves which locks the till up and takes ages to get a connection again. So everyone has to move to another till and you get people complaining about why I can't open another till up, even when I explain to them that I can't because my logon number is stuck on that till until it unfreezes.0 -
Bet you dont shout at your customers though and try to humiliate them"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

There were some 'interconnect' issues yesterday from what I understand, I have the same problem with a PayWave card, but it went through when swiped!
I have looked into the SACAT issue, and I can't find anything from the V/M guides however on some of the technical guides for SACAT terminals, there is a lot of reference to 'forced online' transactions, it does appear that the system floorlimit still tries to 'approve' the transaction without authorisation, and as this cannot be done on these type of cards the only option is to 'decline'.
This seems to be a equipment issue as opposed to a problem with the customers card, my suggestion is for those affected is to contact the stores head office for clarificationThese are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0
