Aix en Provence and Marseille.

Travelling in a couple of weeks to the south of France. Staying for a couple of nights in Aix, and also intending to visit Marseille.

Any tips on what to see and do would be greatly appreciated.

We went last year, as the back end of a paragliding trip. You should enjoy yourself, as its a nice part of the country.
It depends whether you have a car or not.

If flying to Marseille, there is a direct bus from the airport to Aix (which is closer to the Airport than Marseille).
This is the same bus that stops at Aix TGV station (out of town).

Car: Verdant Gorge, Avignon (Chateau de Papes), Cassis (coastal village / pleasant beach), Cliff top drive by Cassis
    Lots of nice countryside.

    Other:
Marseille - lots of museums, shopping etc.
Fairly cheap on the SNCF from Aix to Marseille.
I think that you can also get to Avignon on the train, though we had a car.

All the best, enjoy your holiday.

Indeed you can, the TGV to Paris stops at Avignon. Don't forget to get off though, as the next stop is Paris!
