I have stumbled across this service and have asked the contact person if I could post his details here, as it is such a good offer.
The military prison in Colchester (where good armed forces folk who go bad go) runs a printing press and will print wedding invitations. Basically they can do allsorts so whatever you want they will try to make. They have a range of coloured card (lovely quality), you can have coloured fonts, photographs or other digital images put on the front. I've even been assured you can have a photo of you and your OH digitally relocated to a beach on the Bahamas at sunset if you desired it! They can't do embossing though.
The prices vary depending on size of invite, pages in order of service etc however as a rough guide ...
invite 55p each excluding VAT
order of service - price more variable but VAT free
reply cards - haven't asked about these yet.
first two proofs are free (and are normally sufficient) additional proofs are £10 each. Time taken depends on the workload but to give you an idea he has quoted me two weeks from end of February.
at 55p +17.5% per invite I don't think you could make them cheaper. I'm going to download some photos from a stock photographers website (such as https://www.istockphoto.com) to make them a bit more personalised.
The gentleman to contact is Mr Lester Pearse, at lespearse@civilservants.co.uk
Hope this helps someone out. xx Tondella
