Boiler Installation Price Help!!

  • I had a vaillant condensing combi bolier, 12 radiators (9 with TVR's), wireless temperature and time thermostat installed. Hot water tank removed & cold water tank disconnected. Cost me £3700. Hope this helps :-) Also there was no exsistening CH system, we were on E7 before.
  • How pricey are the Vaillant boilers compared to the Biasi though?
  • A Vaillant Ecotec Plus 824 will set you back about £800 including flue and VAT. It is more expensive than the Biasi but a much better investment in my opinion.

A very wise decision, trust me!

I actually quite like the Gloworm Hxi, and I heard a rumour from my local Graham's that Vaillant and Gloworm were collaborating between the Ecomax and the Hxi, no idea how true that is. I do like the fact that Gloworm have developed a plume management kit, even though this requires a pipe to be run up the wall, and I also like the S/S heat exchanger, which the Worcester doesn't have.

We have plenty of CXI/HXI's on our council contract, and they are going to be a pain. Mainly condensate problems and the fact that we're quoted two weeks wait for parts at the moment.

As a service engineer, the compulsary move to condensing boilers is rather disconcerting!

I also fit and service boilers and would like to say tha you only get what you pay for. Combi boilers should only be installed if the water pressure and flow are adequate and a hardness test done on the supply unless you know what it is already, You may need to fit a combi mate or similr to condition the supply.
It shoud always be noted that the whole system should be chemicaly cleaned to give the system the best chance and an additive put into the system after cleaning to prolong its life, that should be done to an existing as well as new system when a new boiler is installed.
It is best to fit an automatic by pass valve between the flow and return even if the boler has one fitted internaly as this gives a better flow rate.
Always rember that scale is the enemy of the combi boiler so try and run the hot water temperature below 65 as this is wen the scale comes out the water and blocks the heat exchanger.
Get used to running the hot first and then top up with cold and you will find you save on water and gas cost.
    Hope all these tips help.

Viessmann boiler are one of the best boilers on the market at present. Some installers will have gone on manufacturer courses and be able to offer 5 years parts and labour warranties. Having this can save around £1140 over 5 years (based on homecare agreement @£19 per month @60 months)

Other boilers which would be recommending include ATAG and Vaillant.

It even lets you build an online quote to compare with other quotes you may get.

Goodluck and let us know how you get on.
