Just my opinion but from the way the accident was described i am sure that the car seat would have suffered no damage, and just for the record i have a child who uses a car seat

but you cant be sure the seat has no damage - and the advice is to ALWAYS replace a carseat after any sort of accident. Is it worth putting your child at risk? i dont think so.

well done OP for standing your ground and getting sorted! :T

Good for you OP - but please take everyone's advice on here and get your car looked at by a professional for other damage.

For anyone involved in a collision when a child seat is in use, the following letter might be useful if your insurance company is 'difficult' in coughing up for a replacement:

I've used it for my great nephew's seat to be relpaced when my nephew's insurance company initially refused point blank to replace the seat - they did after getting a copy of this letter!

We have had quite a few bumps over the years, thankfully only 1 was my fault but we have always replaced the kids seats even the boosters, and the insurers have always paid no problem even with 2 uninsured 3rd party accidents.
