Hi I want to make my own fake suede bean bag as I'm not prepared to pay silly prices for one but where can I find a pattern for a childs 3 cu ft bean bag??

You caould always get some large sheets of tracing paper and markout your own template, just make one square of the size you want, add a seam allowance of about 2.5cm and attach the fabric and cut out, do this 4 times, sew together and add a zip
Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching

  • I make bean bags all the time to sell on eBay. To be honest the pattern I use is very simple - you need a hexagon for each end and then a cylinder to connect the two. I put a hexagon on each end because a circle involves so much extra fiddling.

All you really need to work out is proportions. For a very large adult size beanbag I use a 50cm width (side to side not point to point) hexagon and then 75cm for the length of the cylinder - but like I said that works out to be very large.

Given the size I think you want a hexagon of width 30cm & cylinder of length 30cm - which means a rectangel of 30cm x width enough to go around the hexagon.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
