AA renewal reduced after phonecall

Renewal for AA inc. Relay and joint membership was due and they wanted £130! We took advamtage of an offer last year and didn't pay this, but do have a DB set up.

Phoned up an said no way. So not to get into a sales pitch simply said I am now covered with my car insurance (which I am not).

Lady reduced it to £77 and gave me the weekend to think about it! She did fumble a bit with her words and it seemed that they offer different discounts depending on your reason for leaving. Car insurance seems to give a good discount.

I've just had a letter through offering 75% off. What exactly are you paying for and ill see what it comes up as on my leaflet
Just checked and it says Relay joint is £32.63.
When you phone quote £75% offer, that should bring it down.

    mine is due next month
i have emailed saying i want to cancel so i will see if i get a response
  • When taking out Car cover, ALWAYS use direct debit and then cancel once the direct debit is taken to stop them automatically renewing at full price.

And register it to a friend's address over 1/2 mile away to get free at home cover.

Joint AA roadside cover on line is £59 and then you get £19 quidco taking it down to £40.

With the RAC, basic Joint cover is £60 with £20 Quidco taking it down to £40.

Someone just posted an offer-£29 plus £20 marks vouchers-thats cHEAP if your car fits the criteria
  • Last year I rung to cancel the AA as the RAC were doing cover cheaper plus Quidco. The AA immediately matched the RAC price. Ok I didn't get the quidco but I am happy with the AA

No £29 plus a £20 M&S voucher back. Thats not the same as having £20 cash. You are committed to a £29 spend.

No it isnt. a) you wont get face value, b) you have to pay eBay fees, c) you have to pay to deliver it by a tracked service, and d) you have to pay Paypal fees.
