To dye for...?

I dye balck & navy jeans etc back to their original colour when they fade, generally once a year after the first time. I also only buy white/cream towels for "best" & when they start to look discoloured dye them dark green to match my bathroom. Granted, they aren't anywhere near as good as new but for everyday use they are fine, and don't show up the dirt so much.
HTH;)
PS : Yes, I grade my towels in catagories of how good they are and put out according to my guests/useage:o. Just call me Monica:rolleyes:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Years ago, I used to dye shoes, I have dyed white shoes black. But from what I remember they looked patchy and a bit metallic, so I havent done it again. Can anyone tell me if the shoe dyes have improved, (cos Im going back about 20 years) if they are better now I may have another go.0

for me this has worked well sometimes, i dyed a pillar box red pencil skirt black and the red stitching makes an interesting detail to it.
was about to say the same thing! i had a blue kaftan top thingy which somehow got a dark stain, so it became purple. the bright blue stitching stayed the same, but i like it anyway!:happyhear0 -
when we put our house for sale we decorated all over including the bathroom so I dyed all my towels navy blue to match/enhance the deco. It looked good and saved a packetSuicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.0

Sweet pea, it depends on the fabric(?) of the shoe, I have done leather and suede and the dye has taken on quite successfully. If you don't wear the shoes much - you may as well try - could give them a new lease of life and they may become your fav pair!!"It's not easy being me...!" :wave:0 -

I dyed an expensive bikini which had a mark on it - it was a coffee colour with cream trim. I used a dark brown dye, but the trim ended up bright orange! It now only looks good if I have a really good tan.....
I often dye white vests which have lost their bright whiteness - I use bright coloured Dylon dyes so I now have lots of funky coloured vest tops. I also dyed a pale deckchair cover darker because it had dirty stains from leaves.0 -
i find Dylon very expensive to use, so now buy from this company

you can have real fun mixing them to create your own colours
They are also very helpful, and the turnaround time is good
They also last ages, as a little goes a long way

Dyeing is a doddle! Our kids have been doing it since they were three (now 4.5). They love tye dye. Tyedye shirts, socks, handkerchiefs... Great way to learn about colours too.0
