in Credit cards
Afew weeks ago i needed to book a flight with a well known flight booker.i needed to do this quickly to tie in with my accommodation which i was booking independantly. They turned down my debit card saying it had been refused, which I knew was not due to lack of funds. I therefore had to use my visa card off the same account, which was accepted.but cost me £42 in credit card charges.I rang the bank and they checked with visa and told me it was refused because the wrong expiry date had been inputed (is that a word?).I have since spoken in more detail to the bank who say that the transaction failed because the agent did not call up for authorisation, and there records show a token amount of £10 was initially put through on my debit card but not put through for authorisation.£10 bears no relation to anything on my invoice,it was a long haul flight. That amount was not debited. The bank say this happens a lot, i wonder if they coulnt bother to take the time to wait for authorisation, so used visa which was quicker. What should I do?
