There are many threads on ebico
e.g. 3 at random

Unfortunately, many threads get into a discussion over their pricing, but if comparison sites are indicating they are cheaper for you, that really isn't an issue (they are cheaper for me too!)
Their customer service is provided provided by Scottish & Southern who are renowned as offering probably the best service of any of the big 6.
Most customers are extremely pleased with ebico as a supplier (with one notable exception on this forum, and others who moved simply because they became uncompetitive on price for them, but many don't pay quarterly on receipt of bill with their new supplier)
When I switched, it was extremely smooth. You cannot switch through a switching/cashback site (since they don't pay any commission) so the options are either directly via their own website (the simplest) or via phone/writing. Unfortunately when you phone, they just send you the application forms to fill in & return, hence why doing it on-line is simplest.
I had no real problems switching and my gas also involved an IGT. One thing to watch carefully is that some people found that they were on an SSE tariff rather than an ebico tariff. I'm not sure how this happened, especially as they send you full details in the post like any supplier does to allow you the usual cooling off period."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
There are literally hundreds of posts about Ebico if you do a search.
People are generally pleased with the service. Gas is quite competitive if you wish to pay quarterly - especially if you are a low user.0 -
thanks so much for the help/replies, i did google it - but i didnt search on here doh! sorry.0

probably going to get electric from them too now after a comparison as i dont use much, 2200kwh per year.
as for billing and meter readings? will i get both bills together, and who actually reads the meters, i think meter plus read mine now at present? do they collect everyones regardless of who their supplier is.0 -

You wont necessarily get both together, but you might do. I know some people receive theirs together, whereas others get them at different times. Not sure why. It may have something to do with whoever reads the meter and tying in with their meter reading schedule. Its common that the gas meter reader is a different person to the electric meter reader. Having said that, my meter readers seem to make a special visit and read just my meter, not the whole street like they used to.
I'm not sure who actually does the meter reading. It would almost certainly be the same as whoever does it for Scottish & Southern, which may or may not be the same as your current supplier uses. It probably varies by region too."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Gas prices excellent, CS very good. As your OP seems to suggest, avoid for leccy unless you are an extemely low user. I reckon, of the Big 6, only the ludicrous leccy from npower is more expensive.
Edit: On usage of 2200kwhs you *should* be able to get far cheaper leccy elsewhere. Plus Ebico don't give dual fuel discount so no real incentive to add more expensive leccy to your order IMO.
Further edit: Just seen that you wish to pay quarterly, so *only* 5% savings available elsewhere in my (yorkshire) region (and that's with BGs Websaver1 that will no doubt be replaced shortly plus has an exit fee) so probably no real need to go elsewhere..Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I changed to Ebico for my gas last year. It took a few weeks to switch over and I have had no problems so far.. I had never changed supplier before and was really worried because I had never heard of Ebico - but I'm glad I did.0

We changed to ebico the start of last year after been messed around with direct debits with BG . Overall for us it works out better for us as we pay the exact price for what we use & don't get done over by DD, And because their prices are on 1 tier it has encouraged us to turn lights off etc to get our bills down.
As for billing, we usually get the bills together, in separate envelopes. I'm not sure who reads our meters but I ring the readings through every month on their meter line. If we get a bill thats an estimate there's a bib thumbs down logo on the bill & they ask you to give them a new reading.0 -
I changed over last year and happy with the service. I pay by direct debit and also set up online accounts (although its via Southern) and can pay additional monies if I want to.
Gas is competitive but I will be moving the electric shortly as its not competitive at all for me.
MIL uses them for her PAYG meters - and was surprised at the savings she made. Mind you, she was paying more per unit and a meter charge with her last supplier, so its a no-brainer really!0
