DVD RAM How to use ?

Bought myself a Pioneer 110 and some DVD RAM discs. I want to use the DVD RAM facility to drag and drop and use the discs as a removable hard drive - how do I do this ? Do I need to d/load some drivers to enable this ?
I currently use Windows ME - any help greatly appreciated.

you need to use a software programme that allows you to do it.

Both roxio and nero will do.

No you don't - Windows (XP at least) should write to DVD-RAM natively in pretty much the same way as a floppy disk. (This is not true of other types of DVD.)

However, having bought exactly the same drive as you, althatmularky, and some DVD-RAMs, I've been having a number of problems writing to them. Windows often says that the disc is full or unformatted or corrupt or....

I don't know *that* much about DVD-RAM, but you do need to format them before you can use them, and I've heard that installing the Adaptec ASPI drivers (from http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe ) helps improve CD and DVD writing reliability.

Let us know how you get on - copying files to a DVD-RAM sounds incredibly simple... until you've tried it! I can't work out if it's Windows that sucks, the DVD drive, my computing skills or just my luck... :-)
  • windows native cd/dvd copying skills is very primitive.

use software and do it prroperly.
