GAS USAGE WITH BRITISH GAS please help!!

Hi all
I'm currently on a prepayment meter and have been for 3 years. I recently changed to British gas and have always been on Southern electric. While on Southern electric our was averaging £30 for around 2weeks and its been like this since we have lived here. Since moving to British gas it was activated 28th jan the first week it had eaten £30 we rang got them to check the meter with a reading over the phone and said it was what we had been using. Monday is when we called them and we decided to turn everything dowm termostat, the whole boiler rads the lot its now Friday evening and its eaten another £20 in 4 days.
Just wondering if there any advice that anyone can give we live in a 2 bed house with six rads and we have the heating on all day but on low due to having a child. We dont have baths much tend to use the shower and hob not every night but when on can be on for an hour maybe.
If working out total amount a month going by how the gas is being used at the min it will work out to be £140 a month from around £60 is this right?? please help thanks.

We are using about £5 gas - not prepay. It is cold! We have a bigger house and probably have it warmer than you but also pay less per kwh.

what is your unit rate? is there a standing charge? Does it give you this information on the meter?

How many units per day or per week are you using then?

Assuming you agreed to switch, how much did they say you would be charged at?
What rates were you paying with your old supplier?
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

I would check your bills for this time last year if you have them. I checked my yesterday and my consumption has increased by a third. Part of this is this being a very cold winter and part that I have people from a country where the temperature is currently 40 degrees living with me so I have increased not only the time on but also the temp. I can live with that though for now.

You switched at the time where you would see most impact especially as prices for gas cost approx 50% more this winter than last. You may find on top of this you are using more gas.

It has been colder in recent weeks than previous, however what made you change? Are the prices with British Gas cheaper?
