laptop battery

Hi All

Need a new laptop battery, dont want to get one from ebay after reading all of the stories about poor quality and hundreds of hits on google. There doesnt appear to be any mentioned when I searched MSE, can anyone recommend a good site to buy a reasonably priced one that you have used before.

thanks

to prolongue the life of your battery take it out of your lap top once its charges, do not leave it in your laptop for long periods whilst your lap top plugged in. It ruins batteries

    I'll second that.

Also, if you are not using the batteries regularly, run it down, recharge it and put it away at least once a month.
  • Laptop batteries are specific to the laptop normally so you will need to post the make and model of laptop your looking for a battery for. Better still the model number of the battery, it will be on the label on the battery.

No point me telling you to buy from the place I got mine from as they may not sell the one for your laptop.

    Sorry to Hijack

I also have the same problem as only get about 20-30 minutes use. Also, cannot get the battery to charge whilst laptop in use, only when switched off.

Laptop is a Compaq Presario R3000

Unfortunatly laptop batteries are not cheap items, take away the screen your probably looking at the next most expensive part to replace especially on the budget end of laptops. You can get the made in china junk then may or may not work for 1p and £50 postage on ebay but you take a risk.

I have bought a few batteries from PSA Parts their prices are reasonable and they do a few options with standard capacity and extended capacity batteries for most models. Never had a problem with the products, they work and last just as long as the genuine manufcturers battery infact longer. So I would not have a problem buying from them again.

But the thing you need to realise is to not leave batteries chargeing all the time, if you use it connected to the mains all the time and the battery is removable with out takeing the laptop apart then only connect the battery when you need to be away from the mains.
