Firstly my OH has been dealing with them, so i haven't gone in all guns blazing and we accept that we will only get the £500 compensation.
And i'll take your advice next time i'll post an expensive item bog standard mail and when it gets lost in the post will be satisfied with the 1st class book of stamps.
And you are happy with the service the Post Office provides, i've come home tonight and found a parcel left on my doorstep.
As far as I am concerned you you are perfectly entitled to vent your anger and frustration on here, I never suggested you should do otherwise.
Nor did I dare suggest you should send an expensive item by normal mail and expect to be happy with a book of first class stamps if it gets lost. Which, if you read my post again you will see for yourself. The Post Office effectively paid me nearly £12 because one of their counter staff overcharged me around £1.70. I thought that very good customer service. I had merely wanted to make a point.
As regards the ebay parcel going missing. It was only worth a fraction of your phone but ultimately I got my full refund.
The Post Office wheels won't grind into action for 15 working days after the day the package should have arrived. So the soonest they would consider your claim would've been about 6th February!!
As regards attitude, perhaps your OH was a little lacking in pleasantries when he approached the Post Office with his claim on the 28th January.
Perhaps it will still turn up, if not, let it be a salutory lesson. If something is worth more than the limit, pay for the extra insurance.
PS My postman regularly leaves parcels as it is a 10 mile round trip to the sorting office plus I live in a nice area.:wave:0 -
Is it just me, or when you send any item by SD - you get a tracking number.
If i remember correctly that is. If so - have you tried using it to see if its been signed for?

I once sent a phone by SD and checked tracking on line. Called to deliver and no one home - awaiting collection. Two weeks later still at delivery office awaiting collection. Asked them to return it and it had vanished. I tried to claim and they said I had to prove it wasn;t delivered. It was an ebay sale so had to contact the buyer and couldn't get a response. tried RM again and they said they couldn't do anything unless I could prove not delivered by getting form signed from recipient.
I think this is totally unacceptable, if its not signed for then its not delivered and its lost....0
