  • hi,
site is back up and running and ive calculated the annual consumption as follows:
    total day 3458
    total night 781.

Do you think i should change from economy 7? i never put washing machine etc on through the night because i had a flood once and dont want to risk that again.

    thanks

Ive just come of an Eon E7 tariff, I have your standard gas/rad central heating system, its usually only those heavy night users with electric storage heater who it actually works for.

I changed over to a Eon non E7 tariff, didn't even have to change my meter. The winter quarter works out at £26 cheaper with the non E7 online v12 tariff. You can work it out yourself or give them a ring. It will be worth it.
  • hi just been on a comparison site and they have come up with this
    Unit Rates 1Unit Rates 2Unit Rates 3Economy 7 Rate21.8505p9.3765p4.9455pUp to 1000KwhDiscount:
    £8.40 per year.

    thats with edf economy 7.

Why does the us switch and the moneysupermarket comparison sites bring up different saving values (margin quite different) when i input same details?
been on edf site direct and they prices of the following seem good to what i am paying now on eon.

You've already said that you use less than 25% of your electricity at night - why are you still looking at Economy 7 tariffs?
  • only because when i go on comparison sites, when they show you the yearly money youcould have saved its more on the e7 than on standard.
Or am i reading this all wrong????????

  • just gone on uswitch and when i put figures in they come up with the following:-
You are currently paying £649.21 a year for electricity based on a consumption of 4239kWh for electricity with E.ON.

The above is including e7 when i do the figures and below is when i pick eon without e7 but standard charge

You are currently paying £546.20 a year for electricity based on a consumption of 4239kWh for electricity with E.ON.

Would it be that much difference by just swapping from e7 to standard?

As i said before i really don't understand it. If anyone can see any better offers, id be grateful.
    thanks

Yes, because you use most of your electricity during the day and, with Economy 7, you are paying more than you need to for it - getting rid of E7 would save you money without switching supplier. You could then look at other options to cut cost (switch supplier/duel fuel discount/DD discount/online discount etc).

  • Thank you for all of your help and i think i will do what you have advised and ask eon to change from e7 to standard. My bill does say standard on it but i guess because it shows night rate as well and that means standard e7.

    thanks

Yes. Try putting your annual use into comparison site and find out best eon tariff for you and ask to be put on that one.
