Hi I have been told that if i have left work voluntarily or have bewen sacked I can not sign on to jsa and they ask you the reason for leaving your last job, is this true??? If so there are agency's around my place that have a days work here a couple of days work there, not ideal but if i I did a days work and stopped because it was all that was available would this count as my last job and then I can receive j.s.a if I have not found proper work within this time ?? Thanks KD1

You should sign on, but they do ask you why you left your job and it is very likely you will be sanctioned (between 2-26 weeks).0

If you left voluntairily then you can claim jsa but will be sanctioned as op says.
If you were sacked (someone correct me if i am wrong) you can claim jsa without sanctions.Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0 -
You can also be sanctioned because of the circumstances in which you left your last job, for example, if you left voluntarily or you were dismissed because of misconduct.

edit, that Healy beat me to it again!0 -
And if you are sanctioned you might be eligible for JSA Hardship payments instead, depending on your circumstances. Ask about JSA Hardship at the Job Centre.0

Even a days work and certainly 2 days work would pay more than JSA0 -
The DWP may contact your former employer, so whatever you decided keep that in mind. If you can keep a good relationship (under the circumstances) with your employer do that if you think it'll help.
Either way if you have lied that's more a moral thing and the DWP aren't into morals. They will coldly look at the facts (ie it's not reasonable to say you made yourself deliberately unemployed). If you stick to "you made an error" type of excuse [by lying] then they may look more kindly on your case (ie you were in a job of course and it's not like you burned the factory down or punched your supervisor). Saying that it's hard to say as you give very little real info (don't feel you have to either).
I think you already have the answers anyway.0 -
dont delay in claiming because they cant apply a sanction to a claim that doesnt exist. If say they are going to sanction the benefit 2 month for e.g. Then that clock may only start ticking once you actualy make a claim.
I've seen people who didnt claim for months because they assumed they would get sanctioned, then when they did come to claim they then got sanctioned the 2 months they've just waited before claimingYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -

Ouch! I know they are responsible for finding these things out but they must be gutted to find that out!
OP - if I were you I'd just get a claim in and deal with whatever comes your way because there is no way of saying for sure what the outcome will be.0
