Still wondering where to go...?

Options
Hi,

Need help in working out a location...here's the details.

Departure date: evening of 19th March ideally
Airport: Luton / Stanstead / East Midlands. Will be in the east of the country at the time so those seem the most logical airports
Destination: OH has said he wants to go somewhere nice and warm. He won't go anywhere with bird flu.
Activities: Must be lots...he likes to be kept busy and his worst nightmare is being stuck on a beach for 7 days.
Length of stay: max of 7 days. Must be back on british soil on 26th March ready for work on 27th March.

Thought about Malta, but unsure if there is enough to do (same with Madeira). Have already been to Tunisia, but it was OH's first holiday abroad, so want to go somewhere else. Haven't kept all our jabs up to date, so if we do need immunisations they must be able to be done and take effect by the time we go away in March.

Suggestions?

    Knew I forgot something.

Absolute max of £500 for 2 adults. But that is for a minimum of half board.

Can you only fly on the evening of the 19th, as you are very limited to say the least with where you can go.

Its more important that we're back on 26th March. The departure date is moveable, but the return date is not.

Trouble is that its headed for Malta. Not convinced that this has enough to keep OH occupied. What sort of things can you do there?

If your looking for warm in March you are looking at either the Canaries, egypt or Morocco.
Dont think your budget will cover either Egypt or Morocco.

bars / restaurants: not really our thing
shopping: to a certain extent....but OH would go crazy doing this every day

OH likes to be kept busy doing different things. Too much of one thing and he will go stir crazy. When we went to Tunisia he liked to walk around. We particularly enjoyed walking around the Medina (market). Not to buy anything, but simply because it taught us so much about Tunisian life. The fish market and fruit market stalls were fantastic.

I like history, and so does OH to an extent....but again, too much of something drives him round the twist.

Put simply, as long as the activities / sights / things to do are all different then its fine. Its when all the activities centre around one particular theme that things get boring for him.

In Tunisia we did the following and he loved the holiday:-

    1. Walked around the Medina / market
    2. Looked at the fort in the town
    3. Went on an organised night out with Thomsons (based on Africa)
    4. Went on a 2 day trip that included El Djem (a colleseum), ride an on a camel around the sahara, visit to some of the original star wars filming locations, visit to a womans house (one of those embedded in a hill), trip around an oasis, and 4x4 trip up the atlas mountains to some lovely waterfalls.
    5. We also went to look around a nearby town one day

As you can see....we did lots of different things, and rarely sat still for more than 5 seconds at any one point in time. Pool, beach, bars, restaurants...not our thing really. Would like to be half or full board so that all meals are taken care of, so we can worry about what we are going to do the rest of the time.

We're not keen on 'touristified' placed if you catch my meaning. And instead somewhere nice and warm with a relaxed pace of life, but with bucket loads of different things to do and see.

I hope this has made sense.
