Loose flashing around chimmney?

Hi,
We have just had the survey back on the house we are hoping to buy, and the surveyors says that the flagging (i think it was called this) around the chimmney is loose, and needs attention. They haven't said how much it might cost to do this though. Does anyone know if this is an expensive job? Presumably someone would have to go up on the roof to do it, so can't diy it. If it is expensive might have to try renegotiating on the house price. Thanks.

It is probably "Flashing" the lead seal between the chimney brickwork and the roofing material ( Slate or Tile ) If it is loose it might only want some cement pushed into the joint.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

We've recently had this done, it's not that expensive, we paid £250 to have the chimneys re-pointed (inc flashing), ridge tiles re pointed and the rainwater downpipe replaced. For the flashing alone I would expect to pay no more than £150-£200.
Depending on access to the roof, the roofer/builder should be able to just use ladders. In these days of health and safety larger companies are having to use scaffolding so it would really bump up the cost to around £300. For a little job like this it may be worthwhile getting a local handyman/builder to do a cash job.Make me RICH!!!!!!0 -
Thirty minute job at best. Flashing just need repointing probably.Don't buy the Sun.0
