How about canceling car insurance and getting people to pay for bumbs themselves?

Sounds exciting! :j Where can I buy one of these "bumbs"? Is it the one that Peter Sellers had in the Pink Panther?
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

So if somebody paralyses you from the waist down and you need millions to cover your 3 decades of lost income plus full time care, then you are happy to sue them for millions are you?

I can be fairly confident that you won't get millions from the vast majority of people.
    That's why insurance is compusary.

However I would agree that there should be higher penalties for the individuals at fault.
Might make some people take more care.

You can, if you really want to. You need to deposit £15,000 with the Accountant General of the Supreme Court (the amount may have increased?). You then need to be able to afford ANY claim that someone makes against you. There are also likely to be legal expenses to pay as you probably won't be able to deal with the claim yourself.

Considering your car insurance will cover third party risks in excess of £20,000,000, could you afford to pay out claims of this size?

Edit: Just checked and it has increased from £15,000 to £500,000.

You aint stupid haggle, what you discibe happens to most almost everyone.

IC are greedy thats why it happens, and its that simple.

I would suggest the(ABI) moaning about fraudulant claims is just a smoke screen, and they these claims are well covered by the IC's own little hidden charges and loopholes, with plenty to spare.

Try canceling midterm or changing cars and see how much thats cost you etc.

And as you say another year-no claims- and they still charge you !!!!
