Npower SOL 11 tariff

Is it me or has anyone else noticed what Npower do with the pricing of these? Although advertised as monthly rates (seasonally adjusted so the winter months are heavily loaded) they are actually charged quarterly and as usual the consumer is the one to lose out!

If someone was at home Nov and used about 2000kwh, home half of Dec and used 1000kwh and away for Jan. Charged monthly they would be liable for Nov and Dec 882kwh x2 = 1764kwh at prime rate but what they actually do is charge the full 882kwh x3 = 2646 at prime rate. It might be me but personally I found this misleading and as I said only one winner. I have written to Npower and do intend taking this further. How do they keep getting away with things?

Do not confuse seasonal sculpting with 'making up what a year is' scalping - [STRIKE]you really should start a separate thread for that (misguided) beef.[/STRIKE] They are completely different. You are wrong when you say that seasonal sculpting works in only their favour. That is simply not true - it works out to be fairer for all their customers. Flat Tier 1 allowances are less fair. Either method is acceptable and reasonable, but the seasonal weighting is fairer to more consumers.
  • Sorry am a new comer to this but never used the words 'sculpting or scalping' and I have no intention of becoming adept at it either. All I know is what my common sense tells me when adding up. What about the fact that someone may be away for most of a quarter period but charged first 2646kwh premium rate, which is equal to 3xmonths, why not just set out figures per quarter. I must be missing something but not according to energyhelpline who I first sought guidance from.
