Skys £60 moving fee on posting

Just about to move from a quarter to a private hiring which has no Sky dish. Phoned up Sky to tell them that I was moving and they said that will be £60. I said the installation charge was only £30 when I moved in so why is it £60 now? Because they send an engineer round. I said that is exactly what they did for £30 11 months ago . They couldn't tell me why it was twice as much for a move.
Cut a long story short told them I wanted to give 31 days notice and if I changed my mind with £50 quidco it wouldn't cost much more for a new installation and I would have a new Sky+ box with a 12 month guarantee and my old one as a spare. They put me through to disconnections and I told them the story and that I was going to get freeview instead of paying £60. Straight away they waived the £60 fee.:D
If you are moving give it a go.

Tbh, its easier just to cancel your contract and set a new one up at the new address. That way you get quidco, friend referral, new box and normally a better offer.30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0

We are posted in April so I have just spotted this thread with interest.
If you cancel and they set up again at new address would sky know that you had been a previous customer? Do you need to tell them?
Quidco says:This is for NEW customer sales bought online only. This offer is not available direct through Sky or through the call centers or retailers. Sky will be unable to assist you with any queries relating to your Quidco cashback.
In certain cases you may not be able to complete your subscription online, so before counting on the cashback, please check that their sign up process will work for you. This will only track if it is completed online, from start to finish.
Ex Sky customers can't purchase online
Does this mean that we would not be able to take out a new subscription at our new house? I have spotted that quidco is offering £100 for HD, but that installation of that at the mo is only £49. Good offer if we can get it! xx0 -
Ahh.. just clicked through to the sky page from quidco, the first question it wants to know is are you currently a sky customer, or have you been one in the last 12 months. I suppose the answer there is yes then.0

What happens when you are mid-way through a 12 month contract with Sky and the Forces move you?
Has anyone tried to re-set-up the Sky system themselves at their new address?0 -

Why not buy in your other half's name this time? - the key is using a different credit card0 -

I dont know if I would be able to have it in my name would I, I am currently bankrupt, should be discharged (just) by the time we move.
Is it the card used to pay for the box, or the card(bank details) for the direct debit which they will check.
Could we have it taken out in hubbys name, but use my bank card/ direct debit. I have a normal bank account.

AFAIK, there is no credit check. Even if they ask have you had a previous contract, just say no. They can't prove it. Illegal, no, morally incorrect - maybe!30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0

You are right, there isn't much in it and you get a spare box. Don't think you would get a better deal though unless they had an introductory offer on.
If they had said it was £30 standard installation fee I would have just paid it as it was fair. The fact that they doubled the price because I wasn't a new customer really annoyed me. No reward for loyal customers. :mad:0 -

If you are half way through a 12 month contract you just tell them you are moving and have to pay the installation fee if there isn't already a dish on the new property. If there is just connect it up and carry on using it.Has anyone tried to re-set-up the Sky system themselves at their new address?
When I moved into my present quarter the property next door was empty so I took down the dish and re-installed it on my house without moving the dish as it was already aligned. Just used it for freeview in the bedroom.
If you take out Sky + they say that they take down all additional dishes during the installation so I just unbolted it for a few hours while the installer was there.0
