Shoes ruined in Belfast

I would describe 1 inch heels (that are thin) as impractical for walking in. (You don't say how thick the heel is).
But I'm a man.
Why do women so often wear impractical footwear?0 -
where in my post did it say
"not something that was designed as a practical means of walking the streets."
seriously, where?
I am the original poster, hence OP
jinja, I was quoting Mark and said he was implying something about you not quoting you. Sorry for the confusion.

I think we got that way back! Mars and Venus Mark, Mars and Venus. But I'm a man.0 -
As far as I know, DRD - Roads Service is responsible for the upkeep of footpaths and roads so they are responsible. You should take a photograph of the damaged shoes and the gaps in the footpaths and contact them with the location. You could be within your rights to claim for damage due to their negligence.
Councils are responsible for cleaning the roads and footpaths (public).
I also think if builders/farmers leave muck on the roads/footpaths it's their responsibility to clean up their own mess. I've seen builders brushing up around sites.Life is an endless struggle full of frustrations and challenges, but eventually you find a hairstyle you like.0 -
Thank you for the replies
It would not be worth the bother going down the line of a claim for damages, having to prove how much I paid for the shoes etc.
but I would like to know the correct dept responsible so that I may formally bring it to their attention as thankfully all that happened me is that my heel went into the gap and got ruined.
Very annoying but it could easily make someone else trip or fall.0 -

The point is that the rates keep on going up to increase public spending, yet we keep seeing poorer service provided for that money - and at some point, surely the council has to accept some kind of responsibility?0 -
Holes in footpaths or roads are not Councils' responsibility, but the DRD - Roads Service.
Google 'drd roads', on their website, you will see a section on 'complaints' and another one on how to contact them.Life is an endless struggle full of frustrations and challenges, but eventually you find a hairstyle you like.0 -
Doesn't really matter how big the OP heels where, i mean HELLO!!!!!! lol just being dramatic....watch way too many films....anyhow as i was saying the fact is the foot paths need to be in good nick
For example, older lady has arthritis falls while out shopping because of a big hole or wonky slab, breaks her ankle, ankle never recovers the same, mobility reduced because it doesn't repair well due to illness & age. What type of life does she have now or in the future? Now this is not uncommon, as arthritis is very common in NIreland. Its in our best interest to complain about a dodgy path as our kids, our parents or any 1 of us could fall, Its a disgrace the way the drd get away with this. By the way this is a true story....
Sorry for the ramble just bugs me the way some ppl assume its about a claim, its about public safety and spending public funds that we have paid to keep paths and roads safe to use.0 -

That's because the money is being used for Pay rises for the councils and associated staff... Don't see too much in the news about them having to take pay cuts!!! I think your being a bit optimistic to actaully expect them to spend the extra money on services!!:mad:0
