There really is absolutely NO DILEMMA. They just HAVE to make clear where they work and carry on posting away. Stop being such a drama queen. I'm just glad it's finally been confirmed by the owner. You clearly aren't. C'est la vie...Call me Carmine....

I don't mind the Eon reps when they are giving advice, BUT I do mind when the question has been asked they post 30 mins later stating the exact same thing as someone else, that's not being helpful, that's just pushing your name.0

I have to agree with both Swanjon and Cardew. I post in my own time using my knowledge of working in different departments at British Gas to help anyone I can. Certain people who are vindictive and repeatedly go on about the time people are online need to grow up. People nowadays have breaks and lunches. If we choose to use some of that time to help others where is the problem?
When I recently saw a discussion on here that was pertinent to information we were given at work I asked for permission to post it which was given. This though does not imply that the company have put me forward as Eons company have done. ( I think that this is a good idea though as long as they do not repeat advice already given).
I act on my own. This means that as although I work for the company I will not agree or disagree on any policies as I am not speaking on their behalf.
I think there are many Energy employees on this board and in the main they are a fount of knowledge and should be welcomed. By being able to point people in the right direction it will save them lots of time and hassle. Just look at the cold spell recently and all the help with meters going faulty.
Irrespective of which Company people work for we can all give input on things which can help people resolve problems both within our own Company and the industry processes involved. The same problems happen time and again with all companies and the regulators have the same rules for all so many people on here have a lot of knowledge between them.
Maybe Martin could advise us what we should add to our profile to say we work for our company but are not answerable on their behalf ?
Just thought of something else. I have had help from other areas of MSE but I have assumed from their knowledge base that they had worked in those places ie WTC. On checking most of them do not have signatures under their profiles so why should we be singled out?Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

But, to be fair, unlike others on here who shall remain nameless for the time being, at least they are making it ENTIRELY PLAIN in EVERY post who they work for, eh, Rian88? :rolleyes:Call me Carmine....

I have absolutely no reason to represent the company I work for, and I would rather not give out personal info such as my name, where I live or even where I work,0 -

In just about every part of MSE we get advice/information from people who work in the field that is being discussed.
Banking, Insurance, Plumbers, Electricians, Holiday firms, Airlines, etc etc etc.
For example there was question a while back asking about refunds for a missed flight. I suspect some of the replies were from those employed in the Airline industry who advised that the ticket was non-refundable. Do we expect them to declare that they work fo BA/Easyjet/BMI etc?
I don't understand why you, SwanJon, Rian1988 etc don't put the 'Vindictive one - aka The Troll' on your ignore list. If you then carry on posting as you have been doing, you won't see his posts and, as he can't get the reaction he wants, his only recourse is to report your post - and then common sense from the Moderators will prevail.0 -
There's only one person acting like a Troll here and that's you, Hugh. We have now had the definitive statement regarding energy company workers being obligated to make that fact clear in all their posts, something I have suffered abuse from you and others on here for months for having the temerity to suggest was the right and proper thing to do. You now throw your toys out of the pram because, once again, I was proved completely correct and, once again, you were proved completely wrong. You now seem to be suggesting that the energy company workers just carry on as normal (in fact, put me ignore like you have done) even though we have had the actual site owner making it clear what he wants to happen. That's arcetypical troll-like behaviour in my book. Why not go the whole hog and apply to be a Mod? You seem to think you run this place, anyway.Call me Carmine....
