Info on Salou please

My 20 year old daughter and her BF are going to Salou this weekend. Can anybody recommend places to go.

Is it far to Point Aventura Theme Park?

Is it easy to get to Barcelona ...and whats the best transport?

Thanks!

  • Hi Liverbird,

I hate to be the one to break the bad news as i love the theme park, but i dont think it opens again until march. Its open at certain times during the winter season but according to the website its not open until 24th march.

Me and the BF never got round to going to Barcelona, but everyone raves about it. If going through one of the arranged trips you go really early and spend the entire day there. You have the option of visiting the footie stadium, which the guys flock too. But you also get a bit of culture and get to go to all the popular pubs etc.

And with most places the bus is a good option to get there, as its fairly cheap. but slightly kamikazee so make sure they get a seat.

Theres a stunning promenade to wander along with shops that sell the best ice creams, a stunning fountain which has a laser display at night. Plenty of pubs all the way right down to the marina.

Theres also quite a few boutiques and kooky shops alike, but watch the prices and shop around or haggle big time as they arent always too cheap.

You can also head the other direction and head towards Cap Salou where there are plenty of little private bays. Amazing photo opportunity! And perfect to chill out in. Also theres a few young and lively pubs round that area.

And dont miss out on hot waffles with chocolate that they sell in most shops as they are to die for!!

    Hope they enjoy.

Oooh little afterthought if they fancy going out on a jet ski make sure its a special well deserved treat as they are soooo expensive and thats only for like 15min.

Ooops forgot to say that im 22 and the BF is 21 so we are similar ages.

Easiest way to get to Barcelona is taking the train from Salou (watch out for pickpockets in Barcelona station), tickets are really cheap. Leave early as Barcelona offers lots (get metro cards to get about it's really easy to get to Nou Camp etc.) If you get a chance see the zoo and the albino gorilla!
