Repairing Scratches to Alloy Wheels
I have a lovely Ford S Max that's a year old with some wonderful alloy wheels. For some reason I've scrunched more kerbs in the last 12 months than the last 12 years!
Anyway I'm just wondering if there are any repair kits that can make a reasonable job of tidying them up. They're not really bad scratches to probably warrant any sort of professional repair but bad enough for me to know they're there!
I've looked for previous posts but are any repair kits any good or am I wasting my time and money? As I say, the car and wheels are only 12 months old so they are in generally good nick and seem to be a natural alloy finish rather than 'finished' etc.
Thanks

sounds like it will be a waste of time, sorry0

Ring a few smart repair guys they might do it cheap for you at the moment - the trade probably isn't keeping them as busy as they'd like.0

National Alloys (used to be ProClean) in Widnes, Cheshire are fantastic! Dunno what they charge for private folk tho!

Best to get them sandblasted & powder coated again. I've never found the other forms of repair to hold very well on alloy.
If you shop around, refurbishment should be in the £40-£60 range per wheel & you might get a better price for a set, although you would be without the car for a few days.0 -
Cannot suggest cheap methods that will last.
IMO it is probably a waste of money as the alloys will no doubt be scratch again soon.
Save the money and spend on other essential things when the car needs it.0 -
Hubby got our kerbed alloy wheels repaired and refurbed by Autoshine Repairs in Croydon.
They cover SOuth London and surrey for anyone interested, from what I remember Hubby said they were competitively priced against the larger chain places like Chips away.
I remember after though, our Vauxhall Corsa alloy wheels looked immaculate :beer:professional mum and bargain hunter0
