Upgraded my alarm

Hi ,,i have just had my alrm upgraded....it will txt me to let me know if it has gone off (great) the installer sed to go to a fone shop and jus buy a sim card,,then he will programme it in to my sim card via my mobile...Excuse me for bein thick but i just dont know how that works.......I am on Tesco network,,,and i cant understand if i go to a mobile fone shop thatgettin one of there sim cards will enable me to get txts in the event of the alarm going off.Would someone care to explain this for me???i am having a massive blond moment !!!!!!:confused: Thanks in advance:confused:

    I imagine the alarm has a GSM dialler attached. (i.e. Something that takes a sim card and can send messages over a mobile network just like your mobile)

    So you place a sim with credit in the GSM dialler which is programmed with you mobile number, so when the alarm goes off it will send you a txt to say your being burgled.

    Make sure that you go for a Pay as you go network that has no time limit on using credit and know how long the SIM stays active without use, do a test more oftern than this.
  • thanx for ur replies,,,,,,but would any sim card do..its jus that i am on tesco network so i dont know if i have to get a tesco sim?????(still havin a blond moment)
