Claiming under hardship from NatWest if overdrawn, over my OD limit due to charges!

Can anyone help me with some advice please, as i've read the information but still not 100% sure where i stand on this.
I've had an account with NatWest for something like 10 years now, but it isn't my main account anymore. I do have an overdraft limit of £1000, which unfortunately went over the limit a while ago as i forgot about a DD payment so they kept hitting me with charges, i was out of work and it kept mounting up.
Now i'm in a low paid job but 6 months ago agreed a repayment plan of £110 per month (which added to everything else and living expenses is a huge chunk), it was hard but i scrimped and found the money each month. Finally got back into my OD limit, pheww i thought... so set up a DD to repay about £40 per month and will raise this when i can.
However, having just checked my account they have taken over £50 out in interest and charges!! I'm sure i wasn't charged interest whilst within my limit before, but can understand it. However, what's the extra charge for? I bent over backwards and borrowed money last month to get back into my limit, and they've just taken a huge chunk straight back out.
I'm still overdrawn and don't see myself being in a position to clear it (despite their kind offer of a 5 year loan which i can't really afford, great!), can i claim back my charges whilst still overdrawn, are they justified in taking this last charge out at all, should i ring them and complain or send a letter? I'm really not too good with this stuff, any help would be much appreciated!

Being overdrawn does not effect you claiming, as I understand it you can claim for charges, but not interest on your over draft, you can however if you want to claim for interest on the charges. You may also be able to claim under hardship, check out the reclaiming pages, they are very good and take you through it step by step.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb
