Burglar alarm help

Hi
There've been some burglaries nearby, and they'll probably be more common as the recession bites further.

Wanted to know what the best type of burglar alarm is?

I haven't got a lot to spend, so wondered what the £99 self fit ones are like?

I came across this one - BT Home Monitor VP1000 - which is only £49 at the moment, although it's quite an old model I believe.

I'd appreciate any help in buying one.

Thank you

Im afraid you will only get what you pay for. Does anyone actually respond, even the police to an alarm going off?

Myself in you situation with your limited budget I would do three things. Buy two dummy alarm boxes to fix to your property, they work as a good deterrent. Next fit good security lights around your property, burglars hate light. Finally, fit extra window and door locks, good quality ones, not ones from down the market.
