I need a new Sky+ box

Ours is playing up. I've looked on Ebay and there seem to be loads on there where people are upgrading to HD. Is any particular one any better or are they all much of a muchness?

Have you tried phoning Sky and telling them you might need to cancel because your box is faulty.

They will probably offer to send an engineer with a replacement for free.

Now I need to go and put my old Sky+ box on ebay after upgrading, every time I see this mentioned I realise I've still not sold it !

if you buy 2nd hand...watch out for the thompson 160Gb one...mine is quite noisy (all the time) and it's only pvr 2.5 which means I can't have...something or other.

I don't think Sky Anytime works on these which is why it's 160gb, all boxes are 160gb but 80gb is normally reserved for Anytime recordings.

Thanks guys. They keep phoning me up and offering their maintenance plans and I keep refusing them. I guess the other thing I could do is phone up to cancel and then take out a new contract in my girlfriends name...
