Threatfire is antimalware/antispyware it tries to stop the stuff getting onto you computer in the first place. Most free antispyware apps dont offer a residential shield.0

I use online armor and pc tools obviously on different machines and they are both good, i have found them to be less intrusive than comodo and maybe zonealarm0

that is good advice david I will read your threads but I might not understand too much of it but I will give it a tryDeleted_User wrote: »The chances are the router has a built in hardware firewall already set up. You've heard?
From who? On what basis do they have this view? Rumours? Hear-say?
Do yourself a favour. Read the thread I've posted above. Read the links on the thread. Then make an informed decision on what best suites your needs. Don't simply be a sheep and do something because someone says on the Internet. Myself included.0 -
Thanks for the links David they were a help, like some of the people said in the links I want an outbound firewall in case I pick up trojans, worms, keyloggers and the like, I understand that as you say in the links that once you have them on your computer then its too late as they can circumvent your firewall but I feel that an outbound firewall is an extra level of security that makes it harder for the trojans etc to steal my info, so I have settled for pc tools firewall without firethreat so it wont slow down my computer.Deleted_User wrote: »The chances are the router has a built in hardware firewall already set up. If you want to know if / how well your firewall is working go to Shieldsup here:
https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
Proceed and click on 'all service ports'. This is an excellent firewall checker. Note, if you are behind a proxy server, the results you get will be for that server, not your PC.Steve0
