The medication I'm on is called nifedipine. It basically thins the blood so that it flows more easily so don't get that dead man's fingers and toes. It works brilliantly most of the time but there are some side effects, mainly headaches.

Thanks for that. I shall make sure I have a prescription for that ready for next winter if there is any hint of the problems she has at the moment.

Will also get some silk socks.
  • Hi. I have Raynauds and never go anywhere without a pair of gloves, it becomes a habit after a while. There is always a spare pair in the car. I do get funny looks wearing gloves on a summers day but sometimes its cold enough to trigger the dead fingers! Avoid gloves that are too tight because they only make things worse.
When it comes to feet I find walking boots and very thick walking socks are a must, they won't suit everyone's taste but I don't care so long as it prevents the pain.

My daughter is only 16 so street cred is quite important to her. I have said that next winter she will be wearing boots when I put mine on and only take them off when I do. I think I may have raynauds but only when it is really cold. She has secondary raynauds triggered by vasculitis.
