Hi all,
I made the final payment on my IVA last month (26th Jan) :j
How long does it usually take to get the completion certificate?
I want to start building up my credit score. (which I know is going to take a long time and won't be easy) I'm going to get a credit report sent, and check for any entries that do not say 'completed' as per the 'Credit Reference File Clean Up Post IVA' thread.
Obviously the this isn't going to be updated instantly, so how long should I leave it before requesting the credit report?
Thanks
Andrew

Well done Andrew on completing your IVA. It can take a while for the IP to sort things out, they will have to make sure they have final claims from your creditors. No point in getting your credit reports until after you get your Completion Certificate as this will be sent to you when the IP send the cheques off to your creditors.
It took 8.5 months to sort mine  This was delayed as some of my creditors did not put their claims in and in the end one of them was disregarded and they did not get their money, this was a few thousand pounds but the IP gave them a number of reminders to claim their money and they did not. I got my complation certificate about 2 weeks ago so going to wait another few weeks and apply for copies of credit files to see who has updated and who has not.
I have read of others who got their completion cerificates in a few months, you should ask your IP if everyone has submitted their claims and how long it will take.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Thanks doelani,
So it is just a sitting waiting game now.
Do you think it would be worth starting one of those 'cashplus credit builder prepay' cards, or wait till I get the certificate before applying for that too?
Thanks

Forget the cashplus card. Just get yourself a £15 T-mobile solo 30 day sim only contract. The credit check is £2 taken off your debit card and then put back on again.
You get 350mins a month and unlimited texts and you can cancel the contract anytime you like giving 30days notice. A good way to put some green 0s on your credit file.

This completion report can take a long long long time to receive. This is due to the Fact the Insolvencey Practitioners usually have their offices on the top floors of buildings, and so it makes it difficult for the little pixies these IP's employ to collect these certificates. I imagine this is because of their small legs its difficult for them to climb the stairs, and as we all know pixies have a phobia of lifts. My IP must have been in a building that was bigger than jacks beenstalk because my IVA was completed in November 2004 and i received my final report in june 2008. I don't know how long i'll have to wait for the two and half thousand££££'s he's still got of Mine.No One's Kicking Away My ladder Anymore0

No I am not bitter I am just telling my IVA story like the Fairy tale it was and how we all lived happily ever after (once Greg Mullarkey of W3 Debt Solutions(Previously Wallwork & Company (Debtwise(Debt-Free Direct))) and now National Debt Helpline Pays me my Money....That damn Ogre

Soon should have been four and half years ago it seems every corner i turn there's a new obstacle or brick wall with re-enforced concrete behind it covered by a 10 inch steel sheet and 2 German shepards and a Jack russel guarding the paths leading to it (i hate jack russels) Ignore the humour its just my way of dealing with this if i dont get anywhere with this at least i let a few people know its not always as simple as it sounds to become Debt free.cheers
