Burn marks on saucepan and tea stains in cup

Options
My saucepan has a black line in the bottom where it got burnt a bit. Anybody know how to remove the marks. Also my mug which I use for tea has stains around the insde which I can't seem to get off. It's a white cup but the tea has left brownish marks inside. I don't have a dishwasher and when I clean it in the sink the marks don't come off. Sorry if it's not very clear I can post pictures if needed.

I would use washing powder for the pan. Just use a tablespoon of powder.Fill the pan up to half way and boil. Once boiling turn off and leave overnight. The pan should be gleaming in the mornig with a little effort from yourself. I also use bleach for tea stains but make sure you rinse rinse well.

  • I use washing powder for the tea stains, put some in offending cup & pour on boiling water, a bit of soda crystals wouldnt go amiss either! leave to soak then wash well.

  • Yep - I'd go with the teaspoon of washing soda with enough hot water to dissolve and cover the stained bit - leave overnight and then a brisk scrub with a sponge pan scourer. But don't use it if your pan is aluminium, it will turn it black

    Works like magic!
  • My mother-in-law swears by salt for cleaning tea cups.
  • I use bleach and hot water to clean tea stains from cups and mugs. Let them sit til they cool then wipe the stains off. Rinse very well.

If your pan is stainless steel, I use a product called bar keepers friend and a scrubbing pad. It works great for me.

  • Salt made into a paste with a drop of water usually works well.
  • For the cup, I used a little bit of bicarb of soda in water left to soak for a little which, got my cups clean again :)

Yup salt is the best for the job, just rinse the cup and whilst still wet sprinkle some salt in and work around with your fingers is best, your cup will be gleaming in seconds.
