EON direct debit after not paying for 2 months.

Hello everyone,
I have an issue with EON which i am hoping you could help with.

I moved in to my house in November and missed payments on december 31st and jan 31st and have fallen behind by £210 with my bill for feb coming on 4th march.

I rang them to ask to setup a direct debit which would be double what i was paying before to £150, which would help pay the debt back and is what i could afford.

They have told me that they cannot accept this and due to an annual review in April, i need to pay £210 by the end of the month as well as setting up a direct debit for the march 4th payment equating to at least £300.

Obviously i cannot afford this and said i would setup a standing order for £150 to pay directly to them but they said this is not an agreement with them and debt recovery proceedings would happen and i have recieved a 7 day payment in full letter today.

Please can anyone help with how i should proceed with this?

    When you say you missed payments for Dec & Jan, what excatly happened?

    How were the payments "missed"? Was this because the company failed to set up a DD mandate correctly on your bank account, or was it simply that you had insufficent funds in your bank account to pay the DD when collection was attempted?

    If it was a case of insufficient funds, I can understand why the supplier is unwilling to allow you to pay back the debt over time.

    Your options are somewhat limited:
    (a) Pay what you owe - borrowing the money from a lending institution if necessary rather than an energy supplier.
    or
    (b) Accept that they will probably put you on a pre-payment meter to recover the debt.

    I think you may have mis-understood the offer being put to you by the supplier.
    In 2-3 months you have used £210 worth of energy. They want that money by the end of the month.
    It makes no sense that they are then requesting £300 per month in addition to that starting the beginning of March. That sounds like the option if you don't pay anything by the end of the month.
    If you pay them £210 by the end of the month and for some reason they do insist on £300 per month from March, simply tell them you would prefer to pay on receipt of bill if you can negotiate that down to £100 per month or less :)

    I can only offer you my experience with Eon. When they were asking me to pay more than I could afford, I just didn't know what to do..so sticking to my nature, stuck my head in the sand.
    A week later they hone me..? They were willing to reduce my payments. They originally said I needed to pay the arrears in about 7 months, but they extended to give me longer.
    Line you, I have again missed my December and January payment, well if they do expect it on the 27th dec..tut. I phoned expecting to have to pay 2x£125, but in giving them my meter readings, I only owed £83.

    My one piece of good advice. Get yourself a Energy Saving Monitor. Having a visual indicator of what you are using really helps. You can see your monthly bill at that moments usage, and you question, and turn things off, and look why you are using so much.
    It will really help. Mine came free with the tariff,

    Try speaking to them again, having regular payments you can afford, is better for them,
