thanks Kazipoo
I don't mind paying what I owe, if the calculations add up. I did forget about VAT, didn't think standing charge counts in this case as it's now not a pre-payment meter, but i could be wrong.
I rang them up today and escalated my claim to the 3rd stage. The person I spoke to said there are definitely things wrong on the account and he's going to look into it. If I don't get a reasonable response within 10 working days, then I'm ringing up consumer focus again.
I'm happy to pay whats actually due, but with all the muck ups they've had, and amounts that don't add up... I'm just hoping it gets sorted soon.

You shouldn't pay a standing charge because you're paying Tier 1 and 2 prices. I think you should wait for your bill so that you can see what you're being charged for - at the moment, you haven't got much to work on because there are several issues affecting the balance due.0

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've been told to ignore the upcoming bill as it's being investigated again. It'll get there eventually, but you're right magentasue. To pursue further I need more evidence. I've already got a list of readings produced by npower, so i have evidence of my usage.
It's just waiting...
anyways thanks again and I'l keep you postedTSB: £4900

Iv missed some of this out but I would reiterate what has previously been advised - not all economy 7 meters switch to the night rate for all appliances depending on how your house was wired will depend on what comes onto the EC7 at night - in some cases this is for the storage heating only and anything else used will be charged on the day rate.
On the otherhand you could look at your meter and see what rate you are being charged on during the night period times usually 12am - 7am (although this can depend on what your local supplier stipulates)

Hello, I'm still none the wiser on what Npower are charging me for. No bill through the post and no call from the executive complaints team...
As far as I know, I should be having a working night reading, from having a prepayment meter before the credit one it was from then that I know that the wiring should accomodate all electric and not just the storage heaters. I did switch one on (if it worked) and left it on all night, when I checked in the morning, the night reading still hadn't changed.
What calculations should I be making to see what they should be charging me. I've put my details in to a calculator found through this site, but some of you aren't getting the same answers, so I'm wondering what calculations you are making, to see if I can get a more accurate costing.
Day reading 09/05/08 (even though meter wasn't put in til 6th June)
21950
Night Reading
16353
Final reading 01/02/2009
23785
Night Reading
16353
According to the calculations done by npower, I would've been using on average 3kw of electric a night through the time from the meter being put in til 1st Feb. It's all a bit complicated to me, and i'm still on a mission to find out what I'm owed, or what I'm due so I can finally join EDF properly in peace lol

Have they deducted your payments off the bill? Not sure how you paid the payments (by bill payment from your current account, using a card at the post office etc?) - is it possible the payments have not been allocated correctly to your account?
If you just phone up the call centre, can you get them to just read out what your bill says? They should be able to do this and you'd get an idea then of how they have calculated it all. They can also confirm if there are payments allocated to your account at all.Indecision is the key to flexibility

Hi Heather. Im afraid I cant offer you any advice, but you have my complete understanding on this matter. I have read most of the posts and truely believe that this has nothing to do with anything you are doing. I have had a similar problem, whereby NPower are charging me for a key meter I only had for 2 months when I moved into my flat, and they have no record of the credit meter that I changed to. I know this because I have changed supplier twice, and thanks to Southern Electric (who were very helpful) have only just got my correct meter registered. I have been refunded money from Southern Electric, and British Gas, who I was also with, but NPower still do not have the capacity to realise their mistake and are charging me and obscene amount for only a few months in 2007 on a single occupancy one bedroom flat. The saga continues....0

I spoke to someone on complaints last. I don't know what they're playing at, but I don't like it. I'd recieved a letter saying my last complaint had been closed. In this time I'd made another complaint about the £239 and it was with the executive team. So this woman was getting confused, and she seemed to talk too much (was on the phone for 40 mins for about 10 mins of useful info)
I basically asked what they'd done to say my complaint was closed. As far as I can tell is they say that one was closed because there was another one on going with others that are higher up... or something
This woman went on about them having to change my readings because of the credit meter fault, but said it was being changed back to when I first joined. I didn't have the faulty meter put in til a year later.
So they're playing around with my meter readings, and trying to charge me £239 for it.... I don't think so...
There's as theirs a dispute with them playing around with readings, and what my final reading should be. EDF can't take over my account properly til they've recieved the D86 or something, and npower was saying that it was something to do with negiotations between the companies, but she didn't say why it hadn't been sent.
I feel stuck in the middle of a right mess. Still haven't received this infamous bill, so still waiting. I really wish I'd not changed my meter now as it's turned into a right nightmare and it definitely hasn't been cheaper!TSB: £4900
