Specsavers as in line with most opticians only give a free contact lens/eye test if you buy from them. Because you decided not to buy they had every right to ask you for the cost of the eye exam before handing over the prescription.

Or did you already pay for the eye test and contact lens test? if so then yes, if lenses had been prescribed then you were entitled to the copy of the test to take eleswhere

I myself and my children started using specsavers when one opened in our town, recently my son had his eyes tested in kings college hospital where he was being treated for a liver problem and apparently you can tell alot from the eyes and it turned out he didnt even need glasses !! they did say that specsavers are apparently nutorious for prescribing eye prescriptions when not needed we were recommended to go to a small independent optitians rather than a big chain

I had all the strange preliminary tests, which I've never had before! I go in for my sight test and they use this big machine instead of the glasses, I mean it's only been two years since I had it done! Times change!
well thats a new one on me, someone complaining about an eye test being too thorough...! one of these machines would have taken a very rough reading of your approximate prescription and depending on your age the others would have been to check for possible glaucoma which if you had it and it went undetected would eventually blind you, i certainly wouldnt be complaining about having them done!!
