Digital cordless phone + answering machine

Does anyone know of the best one you can get for under £30? I've seen a few in argos etc but not sure which ones are any good. Anyone bought one recently and happy with it?

Yes, got mine on ebay for £1.71 (by bidding within the last 10 seconds) + £6.95 p&p. Great twin set.

I bought one on Ebay just before xmas from "tuckerman156"
a BT Freestyle 65 cordless answer phone in white. Cost me £6.99 + postage.
Phone was brand new and immaculately packaged. Lightning delivery. Phone working perfectly and I would confidently buy from him again.

He has some others on there just now.

how would you rate the quality of the handset? is it new or refurb? any obvious signs of wear & tear?

also have you noticed any buzzing noise with the handset. a few mixed reviews here:

It was mainly the 100 name/number phonebook which attracted me.

I've set up and used many DECT systems before and, despite the silly cost, was pleasantly surprised. They were obviously not new (previous incoming calls were logged in the memory) and the condition of the (original) box on arrival made me think the wife's famous 'you get what you pay for' phrase would get another airing.

But I was wrong. A pair of DECT handsets, both with 100 name/number memory, one with loudspeaker facilty and a very compact base station with digital answering machine for less than £9!

The wife's been quiet too (bonus).
