Buildings cover claim query-

My scenario:
My central heating system is leaking out via an as yet unidentified point in the pipework - we think in the concrete floor of an extension. My water meter shows we used more water in the four days before we identified the problem than we have used in the past 6 months !.
However, there is no visible damage - ie the water must be going into the foundations and has not affected the floor of the house.
Although Barclays Home Insurance does provide "trace and access" coverage, they will not in this circumstance because there is no damage !
However at this stage we are looking at employing a specialist leak finding service at a cost of over £450 to find the leak and will then have the cost of taking up wooden flooring or kitchen floor tiles, digging up the floor to the leak; repair & making good etc etc , all at our own cost.
If the leak had been elsewhere in the house, we would be covered........
Your thoughts or advice would be most appreciated

a) Your policy includes loss of metered water of up to £1000 so you have probably have a claim for the lost water under this section
b) Your policy says they will pay trace and access costs up to £5000 if there is damage to the building. I would expect that if there is a water leak that it will be damaging the building or if not it will damage the building at some point. So if the trace and access discovers this then you will should be able to claim for the damage to the building and then it would open it up for a trace and access claim.
It may be worth speaking to a good builder if you know any and ask what damage it is likely to have caused or will cause as this may help you make a decision. If it was me and he told me it would cause damage after say a week of leaking it might affect how I dealt with this...
Hope this helps
P.S Is it me of is the Barclays policy a virtual copy of an L&G policy0
