Charities that collect

Hi

I've recently had a clear out and have 20 sacks full of clothes and household items all in excellent condition but unfortunately I don't drive so it's going to be difficult and time-consuming for me to get them to a charity shop.

Does anyone know of any charities that would collect? I'm in SE10 in London - I've rung my two local shops but they won't collect.

Thanks

The Salvation Army might. I'm 'up north' as they say, so not too sure about London, but they may have someone near to you.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.

Are those two local shops part of a 'chain'? We have a chain of shops for our local hospice, and they collect, but I don't think any of the others do.

  • One is our local hospice but they wouldn't collect unfortunately. I'll have to start taking it in dribs & drabs or maybe freecycle it.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
  • Yes as Woofles's says Sally Army do collections. Try putting your postcode into their website to find your nearest branch and call to arange collection.

Another thought if they won't collect... are you ever in when they deliver/collect those charity shop bags asking you to fill them and leave on your doorstep? Maybe you could ask for extra bags or leave a notice indicating its all for collection next time you get one.

Or do you have any friends, neighbours or visiting relations who would kindly give you a lift to the charity shop with your bags? My parents save their boxes of books for my visits ...
