What key worker schemes will be available for me when I qualify as a teacher this year? My partner works for the Health Protection Agency so not sure if he is classed as a key worker or not...? He is currently on £14k from them and a salary of £4k from the bar. I will start on £20-25k.
We would love to get a place of our own when I finish my PGCE, ideally next Easter/Summer x

My girlfriend (who is a nurse) was looking a while back, but doesn't qualify as she is not in the right area.0 -
Which area would you be interested in buying?0

If she's earning over 21k then it will be the london area.0

personally it should be illegal for key workers to get extra help since this is just discrimination against normal working people. should just be FTB help for people wanting to get on the market .0

thanks, it is working in the wiltshire/hampshire area. If I get the job I want (special needs) it will be hampshire £25k, if not it will be wiltshire £20k and we are FTB0

and what happens if you need a fireman, the police, medical help?
you think a consultant will wake up, get into their car at 3am and drive to your house, pick you up and take you to hospital where you are looked after by other consultants?
because in places like london where pretty much all property costs more than the average key worker wage can afford, you would be relying on the top earners in each profession as these would be the only ones able to afford to live in the city.
there is a reason they are called 'key' workers, they are key to society, for everyones health, safety, security and education.
and you may find that some of these schemes are actually open to ftb and also council tennants who are NOT key workers.
back to original question....
the best key worker schemes for alot seem to be the 'open market' schemes, you are not limited to new builds and can pick what ever house you want within a financial limit. check your scheme to see if it is available.what is the plural of moose?
