Thanks for the suggestions, greenbee.

Our windows are all fully double glazed and am working on making/getting help with making a set of tertiary glazing units to be temporarily fitted internally.

The draughts are vile in here and it's not just a case of some of that sticky stuff from [the successor to] Woollys, it's serious aluminium and rubber flange stuff - and I have two sets of doors which are 3m x 4m each :eek::eek: Lovely in summer, a nightmare in winter .... as you can imagine, obviously didn't consider this when the place was done up :o

We are permanently rugged up to the eyeballs, fleece/wool/thermal undies :rotfl: and seldom take off our coats if the weather's really rough! Gosh, we look a sight! :rotfl:

Unfortunately we have no underlay on the carpet, but it's a darn sight warmer than it was before just walking on thermoplastic tiles laid on concrete! Underlay is one of those things I'd like to get around to for so many reasons, warmth being just one of them. I'll think about the newspaper idea, but the carpet's been glued down and not just in the middle, so hey ho :rolleyes:

I think the draught issue is the first to tackle, so thanks again for the hints.
