I downloaded the new registry mechanic that they have advtised on download.com ran it and it showed up about 475 problems. It said the free version only fixes the first 6 but then it crashed the machine so I just had to uninstal it anyway. I then loaded tweak now and ran that, it showed up 5 faulty files and corrected them but this one doesnt scan very deeply at all and is very quick.
Is there any good free one I could get that will do a bit more cleaning of my registry as I'm having freezing problems badly again. I've done all the usual
and its still bad
I'm on windows 98 first edition and have
spybot
adaware
ccleaner
zonealarm free
AVG free

The registry usually has a spring clean when a couple of programs
are installed the removed as then leftovers are left.. There is no
hard and fast rule that means you have to do it once a fortnight.0 -
ccleaner has a built in one, there is a button on the left that says "issues" on the latest versiomEx forum ambassador

After scanning 'issues' with ccleaner, i then select 'fix selected issues', i'm asked if i would like to save a 'backup changes to the registry' (do i do this?). I selected no, from here do i just click 'fix all selected issues'.
As it's to do with the registry i thought i best quickly check on here before i go ahead.
