I recommend downloading AVG + Spybot S&D and saving them onto a CD or USB memory stick. You can then get them onto your friends laptop and run them.
The first thing that should be done is delete the email containing that caused the problem if you know which one it is.0 -

Yes but first rename the files to say whatever.txt and get him to rename them when he has received them. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
There are various portable antispyware/antivirus solutions. Download them to your machine update them copy them to a cd and you can run them from there. Good thing about the cd is that the virus's cant touch them.0

The issue is that he is in South Africa at the moment and just called me to say if I can send the program by email to him.So copying it onto a cd is out of the question. You can't keep a good man down...0

Think I see what the issue is here....similar to my works network...
1. you can use the works network to access e-mail, and synchronise the laptop with the server so you are effectively downloading your emails to .pst file on the laptop so you can work with them when not connected to network...and
2. the works network is restricted so as not to allow downloads to any pc connected to it to maintain the security and integrity of the network and it's servers...
so, the theory of the OP is that if he e-mails the setup files for MBAM and SAS to his friend, his friend will have the setup files stored on his lappy (e-mail attachments) which he can the install and use the progs....
HOWEVER.....
most corporate networks will not allow through their security/firewalls anything with executionable code in them, so chances are the setup files attached to the e-mail will be stripped before your mate has chance to pick up the e-mail on his lappy. Even if they did get through, the networkis unlikely to allow the progs to be updated once installed, so would be using out-of-date definitions....
So, give it a try by all means, but don't be suprised if they don't get through
...and, sorry, but DON'T send him AVG...it's crap......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
