Will rental income affect my JSA?
Comments
-
If you rent your house out you are obviously getting money from it, so that counts as income. Which depending on how much might make you ineligable for JSA.
As you are paying loans with the money thats what you are chosing to spend it on rather than using it for basic needs. While you are not working loans can accept a token payment of £1 a month instead of the full amount.0 -
i've asked about the token payment, because they are secured loans the rules are different. Does anybody know can i claim smi if my property is being rented out?
is there a threshold for how much rental income per year affects the claim?0 -
Government says a couple needs £100 per week to live on so I think a single person will be less.
I doubt you can claim smi if you rent your property to someone else. Dont think they will pay your interest then you also get rental income for it!0 -
I could be wrong but if you have tenants in your retal property and what they are paying just covers the mortage then I was under the impression this was disregarded, any profit over the mortgage payment would then be classed as profit so would be income, does that make sense?
sure someone will come along and tell me I've got it totaly wrong soon :O(0 -
I hope so... doubt it but hope so... well I guess I'll have a decision this week0
