Hotels in Amsterdam

Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel in Amsterdam that isn't too far away from the centre? It doesn't have to be anywhere too special as we're only staying for one night in June (we won free flights with Jet2) but does have to be clean and comfortable. Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Try the StayOkay hostels. There are 3 in Amsterdam, all quite central. Just use a search engine for StayOkay Amsterdam. I expect they get booked up quite quickly though.

Try Ibis Amsterdam Stopera, they are online. Decent hotel, in a nice location and clean.

  • What do you class as cheap !!
We came back on monday from a weekend break staying at the Grand Krasnopolsky 5* which is right on Dam squareand paid 160 euros for 2 nights which i thought was a bargain. I dont think amsterdam is very cheap to stay in(or drink)going by previous threads. try bidding for a room on Priceline

The Hotel Estherea is superb. Not dead centre bur within easy walk. Not exactly cheap but fantastic. Search on the net for it.
Rooms lovely but ask to be away from the lift shaft.
You have access to free proper coffee, hot choclate, cakes etc. throughout the day. Being able to pop back for this saved us a fair bit.
Whatever you do, hope you enjoy Amsterdam. It is a wonderful city.
PS Worth a visit ... the Ice bar. Everything is made of ice and I mean everything. A mini version of the Swedish Ice Hotel. Situated up at the top end of the Flower Market, just over the road and down a side street.

Hotel Terminus 4 minutes walk from centraal station, use easy to book . com
but the price will be high until much nearer the time. But my favourite hotel and close to everything.

Hotel old quarter, same distance from station, cheap rooms with shared bathroom/toilet or slightly dearer with en suite, but small rooms (it is Amsterdam)

The location of both these hotels is perfect in my opinion.

One night really is not enough, if you can do two or three nights that would be much better to look around.

This is an excellent suggestion, but if you do it make sure you join the YHA in England before you go (use your tesco vouchers to make it really mse) - there's a discount for members.

Hotel Luxer is my favourite and The Avenue Hotel. Both are just 5 minutes from the station. In June you may have to pay 100 euros for a night. Winter time, I think is around 60-80E. You should shop around to book it as it may not be cheapest to go direct to the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Agora, which is very central, and was recommended in Dorling Kindersley Top 10 guide. It wasn't too expensive and the buffet breakfast was a bonus:
