PRIMUS and calls to mobiles

I have a question regarding Primus, I am keen to sign up but thought about going for the 24/7 option (option3) but someone has pointed out that you need to be a very heavy user to justify this extra expense. So it's probably Option 2 the free weekend/evening calls. Currently am on Toucan (£9.99) which seems a tad expensive!
The website appears to be unavailable to day (?) so my questions are:
1. When does peak/off peak times start/end?
2. How much are PRIMUS to call mobiles (training my wife to use 1899 will be nigh on impossible!)?

why bother training wife - get an Orchid dialler (see top thread) for a minimal outlay and you can get calls routed automatically to 1899 etal0

Taken from their site.
When can I make daytime, evening and weekend calls?
• Daytime calls are between 8am and 6pm on weekdays.
• Evening calls are between 6pm and 8am weekdays.
• Weekend calls are between midnight on Fridays and midnight on Sundays
18185 is better then 1899 for mobile calls. Or even better https://www.discountdial.co.uk just 2p a minute.

"They do offer a free mobile bolt on called Penny Mobile not advertised. which is 20p capped for 20 minutes at any time of day to a mobile"
Is that 20p regardless of whether you are on for 1 min or 20 mins or is the per minute rate used until you reach 20p? Also, I assume that the minimum charge of 7p is included, or is it 20p no matter?0 -

Capped normally means "maximum ceiling". Therefore, if you make a very short call it could be just over 7p, but as soon as you hit the 20p mark, that's where it stays frozen for the first 20 minutes.
BTW, how much does this "bolt on" cost per month?0 -

My email enquiry to Primus received this reply; The penny mobile tariff is for any time of the day. You can make mobile calls any time of the day and you will be charged 20p for the first 20 minutes
Many thanks,
Primus Telecommunications
From that I take it that they mean 20p regardless of whether it is 1 minute or 20 minutes - this would onbiously include the 7p minimum charge.0 -
Yes 20p, regardless of call length upto a maximum of 20 minutes, is how I think it will be if you opt for this free bolt-on.
Does anyone know different?0 -

Are you sure Primus will work out cheaper for you? I have done an accurate calculation of exactly what all my calls for a year would have cost via Primus Saver 2 and via Toucan 2forAll, and Toucan works out £8 cheaper. The calls are more expensive via Toucan, but the £24 per year saving on line rental (at £8.99 per month) swings it for Toucan.
Also, I expect to save more money by referring friends and family - we each will save £25 every time and then get totally free calls to each other.
I only spend about £70 a year on calls though.0 -

Toucan line rental of 8.99 a month requires you to sign a 1 year contract. It does not include caller display which they charge extra for.
Toucan apply a 3p connection charge to calls to 0845.0870 numbers on top of the per minute call rates.
Toucan charge by the minute.PF.0 -

I have just called them (I am on the Option 2 saver with 2meg BB) and they confirmed it is 20p regardless of call length so if you call and get a connection e.g. answerphone it will cost 20p or call for 30 seconds. But to be honest this is still good value as Tesco was charging me daytime minimum on O2 11.8p/min (this is the cheapest network) which would mean less than 2 minutes, evening Voda 6p/min just over 3 mins weekends O2 3.4p/min 6 minutes bear in mind there are 6 in my household and 2 being teenage kids . Also I use 18185 at the moment with Orchid dialer but these things change quickly so this will be my standby remember as well there is a 4p connection charge here as well. It will take 11 days to be switched which I will confirm with them before using.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0
